How to know when it is time to give up?
That’s the wrong question. A better question would be: How to know when YOU GAVE UP.
You gave up the moment you stopped taking care of your happiness. This happens when a miserable marriage takes from you so much energy that you stop achieving anything significant: not improving your marriage, nor taking care of your children’s well-being, nor pursuing your goals. In other words, living.
That is when you gave up.
If what you really want to know is when to break up—that takes introspection. In fact, you may discover things can improve, or that you really need a divorce.
You need to take your time (few weeks, not months) and get the right support. You don’t want to divorce when there’s a margin to save your marriage. But you don’t want to divorce when the only strategy is paying lawyers $5,000, just for the deposit.
