Your ex is not complying? File a motion!

How to file a post-divorce motion in New Jersey by yourself

If you need the help of the law because your ex is not following the rules, you may ask directly a judge without the need to pay a lawyers.

In some states is more difficult, but New Jersey courts make it quite easy to represent themselves.

You can download a packet from this link, from the NJ Courts website, that is a pdf with all the forms and the instructions to file a self-prepared motion. The post-divorce motion can be used to ask the judge to enforce a previous court order or your rights in general or to update (start/stop) child support. The outcome of a motion, if granted, even partially, is a court order, with will offer you the reliefs against the damages your ex is causing you.

I won’t go into details here in this post because it will most probably a duplication of what the court explain, but you may find helpful watching the video that explains the preparation, the service and the filing step by step following a real case.

The video is specific for child support, but stay tuned because I’ll post more videos for other reasons for a motion and for other states.
